This pattern is from my Tundra Treasures collection, and is inspired by nutrient cycling in the Arctic. The juxtaposition of bones and flowers reminds us of how decay and decomposition feeds beautiful new growth. This design includes the forelimb of a seal (not sure which species but likely a Ringed seal (Pusa hispida) as they are the most common on Svalbard), the antler and jawbone of a Svalbard reindeer (Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus), and the delicate but mighty Svalbard poppy (Papaver dahlianum), all of which I found while walking through the Svalbard tundra back in 2012.
