This pattern is derived from a dragonfly sketch I did this spring when I was challenging myself to draw every day. I’ve been going back through my sketchbook recently to find drawings that might make fun patterns. This dragonfly was one of those drawings, and it also felt seasonally appropriate.
Fun dragonfly fact for anyone looking to broaden their insect knowledge base… dragonflies belong to the Odonata order of insects whose name is derived from the word odon which is Greek for tooth. While dragonflies don’t technically have teeth, they do have very large, strong, mandibles with sharp, tooth-like serrations.
